METT Signs Its Debut Hotel in Albania’s Ksamil

Albania’s Ionian coast has spent the last few years turning from a well-kept secret into one of the Mediterranean’s most talked-about shorelines. METT has just made its move, signing a hotel in Ksamil, the small resort town whose turquoise coves and low islands have earned it comparisons to the Caribbean.

The agreement, between Sunset Hospitality Group and AICA Properties, brings a 201-key lifestyle hotel to one of Europe’s fastest-rising destinations, with doors set to open in 2029. For a Gulf audience already fluent in Mediterranean summers, it is a name worth noting early.

The Deal

A New Address in Albania

The signing marks METT’s debut in Albania and follows a run of new deals for the brand, among them METT Milan Torre Velasca and Casa METT Sitges. It takes the portfolio to twelve hotels, six of them already open.

Behind it sits Sunset Hospitality Group, whose wider ecosystem now spans 112 destinations across 27 countries in the company’s own figures. Ksamil is the latest marker on a map that keeps growing across Europe and Southeast Asia, with the Middle East next.

The Building

A Hotel That Terraces to the Water

The renderings set the tone, a low, curved building that terraces down toward the water rather than rising above it, its rounded form echoing the arc of the bay. Warm timber and planting settle the architecture into the landscape.

At 201 keys, the hotel is scaled as a destination in its own right, the kind of address built to hold guests for a week rather than a night, with the sea as its constant reference point.

The Interiors

Easy Luxury, Framed by the Sea

Inside, the mood reads relaxed and design-led, the METT register of easy luxury rather than formality. Public spaces open around a central atrium threaded with greenery, and light moves through the building toward the water.

Guest rooms and suites are drawn to frame the view, with lounges and social spaces built for the slow rhythm of a coastal summer.

Ksamil

A Coast Still Finding Its Name

Ksamil sits at the southern tip of the Albanian Riviera, a cluster of small islands and clear water at the edge of the Ionian Sea, within sight of the Greek island of Corfu. For years it was a local secret, reached by winding coast roads.

That is changing quickly, as investment and attention move along the coastline. A branded lifestyle hotel of this scale is both a sign of the shift and an accelerant of it.

The Bigger Picture

One Marker on a Growing Map

METT has become one of the engines of Sunset Hospitality’s growth, described by the group as one of the world’s fastest-growing lifestyle hotel brands. Ksamil carries that story into a new market, and a new kind of coastline.

The opening is still some way off, with 2029 the target. But the signing itself is the signal, that the next chapter of Mediterranean glamour may not open where you expect it to.

For Boujeez

The most interesting luxury addresses are rarely in the places already saturated. METT’s move to Ksamil is a bet on a coastline still finding its name, and on the idea that discovery itself has become part of the luxury. For Boujeez, the lesson is to watch where the good operators sign years before they open, because the map of Mediterranean glamour is being redrawn quietly, one turquoise cove at a time.
