A Doha Stopover, Now With a Seat at the Grand Prix

The layover has long been Qatar Airways’ quiet advantage, a way to turn a connection through Doha into a night or two in the city. Now the airline’s holidays arm has given that idea a motorsport turn. For the first time, Qatar Airways Holidays has folded a three-day Formula 1 race ticket into its Qatar Stopover packages, so a journey through Hamad International can end at the FORMULA 1 QATAR AIRWAYS QATAR GRAND PRIX 2026.

What’s New

The Stopover Meets the Grid

The move builds on the packages Qatar Airways Holidays already sells around the race, which pair flights, hotels and tickets for dedicated fans. What changes is the point of entry. Travellers crossing the network for business or leisure can now add the Grand Prix to a stopover rather than booking a trip built solely around it, according to the airline.

The race runs at Lusail International Circuit over the weekend of 27 to 29 November 2026, and the new packages open the weekend to a broader set of travellers already passing through Doha.

The Package

What Comes Included

At the centre of the offer is a three-day T16 grandstand seat, set along the final sector of the Lusail circuit for a view of one of the track’s more dramatic stretches. Beyond the ticket, the stopover keeps the benefits that made the programme popular: a choice of Standard, Premium, Luxury and Premium Beach tiers, and a flexible 24-hour hotel check-in and check-out window.

Packages can be extended, the airline says, with city tours, beach club access and other experiences across Qatar, so the racing weekend can sit inside a longer stay.

How to Book

One Condition on the Dates

Booking follows the usual stopover path with a single requirement. Travellers set their search dates between 27 and 29 November 2026, choose their flights and preferred hotel, and the three-day race ticket is added to the package.

Qatar Airways Holidays says the Formula 1 inclusive stopover packages are expected to open for booking later this month, subject to availability and the usual terms. Privilege Club members can collect Avios and Qpoints on eligible bookings, and pay with Cash plus Avios.

Beyond the Circuit

A City Built for the Weekend

Part of the appeal is what surrounds the race. A Grand Prix weekend in Doha arrives with the city’s own calendar of dining, design and hospitality, from the museums and souqs to the waterfront hotels that fill up around the event. Qatar Airways describes itself as the Global Partner and Official Airline of Formula 1, and the stopover is its latest attempt to put the sport within reach of the travellers already moving through its hub.

For Boujeez

The most persuasive luxury is often the kind that removes friction rather than adding extravagance. Folding a Grand Prix seat into a layover is a small idea with a certain elegance, the sense that the journey and the destination need not be separate decisions. For a region that increasingly tells its story through sport, Qatar’s stopover is a reminder that the best access is the kind you barely have to plan for.
