BIRKENSTOCK Introduces LOMA and SOLANA, a Modern Legacy Rooted in Footbed Innovation

BIRKENSTOCK Launches LOMA and SOLANA for 2026 | Boujeez

With LOMA and SOLANA, BIRKENSTOCK opens a new chapter in its design language, refining its clog and sandal heritage through utility-driven minimalism, tactile closures, and the enduring functionality of its signature footbed.

BIRKENSTOCK is stepping into a new design chapter for 2026 with the launch of LOMA and SOLANA, two new silhouettes that build on the brand’s long-standing identity of craftsmanship, function, and anatomically driven comfort. Framed as a subtle evolution rather than a reinvention, the release continues BIRKENSTOCK’s architecture-inspired design language while bringing a more streamlined, utility-minded edge to its clog and sandal heritage.

At the heart of the release is a familiar principle: preserving the integrity of BIRKENSTOCK’s signature footbed while refining the outer expression for a more culturally attuned contemporary audience. The brand positions both models as grounded in the design DNA shaped by Karl Birkenstock, with hook-and-loop closures, pared-back lines, and a functionality-first approach that keeps the focus on purposeful design rather than trend-driven novelty.

LOMA Reimagines the Closed-Toe Clog

The standout of the two is LOMA, a new closed-toe clog that expands BIRKENSTOCK’s iconic clog lineage. The silhouette builds on the legacy of the BOSTON, first introduced in 1976 and widely recognised for helping define the closed-toe clog across generations. With LOMA, that heritage moves forward through a cleaner profile, adjustable hook-and-loop closures, and a more technical, minimal aesthetic that feels especially relevant to today’s luxury-casual market.

Crafted in premium suede and finished with a lightweight EVA outsole, LOMA arrives in Dark Tea and Cork Brown, balancing ease, versatility, and everyday function. A Charcoal version is also offered as a direct-to-consumer exclusive.

SOLANA Brings Quiet Utility to the Slide

Alongside it, SOLANA reworks the classic slide-in silhouette through a material-led lens. Also crafted in soft suede, the style leans into quiet structure and understated sophistication, offering a minimal interpretation of utility. Available in Oyster and Dark Tea, with Charcoal as a DTC exclusive, SOLANA shares a visual dialogue with LOMA while maintaining its own distinct identity.

What connects both styles is the hook-and-loop closure, which replaces the traditional BIRKENSTOCK metal buckle with a simplified fastening system. More than a styling detail, it acts as a functional anchor, allowing a quicker, more customisable fit while contributing to the collection’s cleaner visual profile.

The Footbed Remains the Core of the Story

Naturally, the signature anatomically shaped footbed remains central. It is the element that continues to distinguish BIRKENSTOCK within the footwear landscape, supporting natural movement while delivering durability, function, and a supported walking experience. In a market increasingly drawn to hybrids between comfort and design credibility, this remains one of the brand’s strongest advantages.

The Hook & Loop Campaign

The launch is backed by the Hook & Loop campaign, which places LOMA and SOLANA alongside seasonal evolutions such as the SYLT. Set inside a local music studio in Cape Town, the campaign film explores the overlap between work, rest, creativity, and everyday movement. It positions the footwear less as a fashion prop and more as a steady design presence within contemporary creative life.

From a market perspective, LOMA and SOLANA arrive at a moment when consumers continue to gravitate toward footwear that feels both design-literate and genuinely wearable. Rather than dramatically shifting its identity, BIRKENSTOCK is refining it through form, material, and fastening — a strategy that feels commercially smart and aesthetically consistent.

Launch Details

The campaign launches on 2 April 2026. SOLANA is priced at 140€ and LOMA at 160€. Both silhouettes are available in sizes 35–46, in regular and narrow fits, and will be sold through birkenstock.com and BIRKENSTOCK retail stores.
