ALO Opens in Dubai Hills, With a Flagship to Follow
ALO has built a following on a simple idea, that what you wear to move and what you wear through the day can be the same thing. The Los Angeles label, worn from the yoga studio to the street, is widening its footprint in the UAE with Alshaya Group, and Dubai sits at the centre of the plan.
The brand opens at Dubai Hills Mall on 28 August, with a larger flagship to follow at the Mall of the Emirates on 18 September. For a city that has folded wellness into its daily rhythm, from sunrise runs to late studio classes, the timing reads as considered rather than convenient.

The Arrival
Two Doors, Three Weeks Apart
The Dubai Hills opening joins ALO’s existing homes at Dubai Mall and The Galleria Al Maryah Island in Abu Dhabi, threading the label further into the country’s most visited retail addresses. Three weeks later, the Mall of the Emirates flagship becomes the anchor of the run.
It is a measured rollout rather than a single splash, the kind that lets a brand settle into a market instead of arriving all at once. For shoppers it means the collection is easier to reach, whether the day calls for a class in the morning or a coffee run after.

The Idea
Made for the Mat, Worn Past It
ALO’s design language sits between performance and ready to wear. Pieces are cut for movement, then finished so they do not look out of place once the workout ends. It is the studio to street idea the label helped popularise, and it travels well in a region that lives between air conditioned calm and the heat outside.
The palette stays quiet, sage, stone, black and cream, so the wardrobe layers with itself. What changes is the fabric, chosen for stretch, recovery and the way it holds a shape through a long day.

The Space
A Calm Floor to Move Through
The store reads more like a considered space than a shop, wood detailing, soft light and room to breathe between the rails. Mannequins are styled as full looks rather than single pieces, so the way ALO layers is clear the moment you walk in.

The Collection
The Set, Not the Single Piece
Matching sets do much of the work here, a bra and legging or a top and short that read as one outfit. Sculpting fabrics and clean seams give the pieces their shape, while the softer studio layers, wraps, hoodies and knits, carry them off the mat.

The Fabrics
Where the Feel Is the Point
Up close, the collection is a study in texture, ribbed cotton, brushed jersey and the smooth technical weaves ALO is known for. The rails are grouped by tone rather than category, an editing choice that makes building a capsule feel effortless.

The Ritual
The Kit for the Practice Itself
Beyond the wardrobe sits the practice, mats, blocks and the small accessories that turn a corner of a room into a studio. It is the part of ALO that reaches past clothing into a way of spending the day, and it packs neatly for a region that moves between home, gym and desert.
The Flagship
The Mall of the Emirates, in Full
The September opening is the one to watch. At roughly 950 square metres, the Mall of the Emirates store is set to be ALO’s largest in the UAE, in the brand’s own description, and it is built as a destination rather than a stop, with luxurious fitting rooms and a private VIP seating area.
Its signature is an olive tree set into the layout, a living centrepiece that stands for the brand’s line about nature and mindful living. In a mall known for its scale, a tree at the heart of a store is a quiet, deliberate note.

The Story
From a Yoga Mat, Since 2007
ALO began in Los Angeles in 2007 with a foundation in yoga and mindfulness, and grew into a broader wellness world of community events, products and an online platform with thousands of free classes. The clothing is the entry point, not the whole of it.
That ecosystem is part of why the label reads differently from a straightforward activewear brand. It arrives in Dubai already carrying a culture, one of practice and routine, that a wellness minded city is primed to recognise.

For Boujeez
The most telling thing about a wellness brand is rarely the clothing, it is whether the world around it feels lived in. ALO arrives in Dubai with a rhythm already attached, the mat, the layers and the ritual of moving well, and stores built to hold all three. The lesson is that luxury increasingly means a way of spending the day rather than a single thing to wear, and the labels that travel best are the ones that bring a whole practice with them.
